Periodontics:
Our office provides for your convenience an in office Periodontist. Periodontal disease is a disease which infects the supporting structure around the tooth. These structures include both the supporting bone and gums around the tooth. The initial treatment of gum disease first involves a detailed, comprehensive periodontal examination. The actual treatment of the disease may be non-surgical and/or surgical. Often, a gross debridement may need to be performed to allow the healing process to begin as well as give the periodontist easier access to evaluate your teeth.
If your gum condition is mild, a second, debridement may be all that is needed to stop the periodontal disease from progressing. If your gum disease is more advanced, additional deep scalings and / or root planning may be required. If your periodontal disease cannot be fully stopped using non-surgical treatments, then surgical treatment of the disease process may be required.
The treatment of periodontal disease (gum disease) usually involves multiple visits. Your dentist will determine a Soft Tissue Management Program that will be used not only at the dental office, but also at your home. The treatment of periodontal disease is an on going process. If you allow the bacteria in your mouth to attack your teeth, bones, and gums, periodontal disease will result in loss of your teeth.
Dental Implants:
A dental implant is really just an artificial replacement of the root of a tooth. Once an implant integrates into your jaw, it is then used as the foundation to restore a missing tooth or it can be used to stabilize a removable denture.
